IBM opens Cloud Center in Italy

IBM kept its word and as announced few months ago when it has opened its datacenter in Australia, now it has officially opened its first cloud data center in Italy, more specifically in Cornaredo, a small town close to Milan. The data center is joining existing SoftLayer EMEA cloud centers located in London, Paris, Frankfurt and Amsterdam and it is going to provide the Italian cloud market with a local IBM Cloud presence.

The new IBM SoftLayer datacenter is crucial in a emerging and growing cloud computing market, IBM mentions on its press release that according to the Politecnico di Milano’s Observatory of Cloud and ICT as a service, the growth in 2014 has been of 31% year-over-year.

Marc Jones, chief technology officer for SoftLayer, an IBM Company, declared:
