Release: Egenara PAN Manager 7.6 and PAN Cloud Director 2.1

Egenera has announced the release of two new versions part of its Egenera Cloud Suite solution, PAN Manager and PAN Cloud Director. PAN Manager which has been updated to version 7.6 provides which provides provisioning, managing and protection of IT infrastructure. PAN Cloud Director provides orchestration, a Service Catalog, a Self Service portal and billing capabilities has been updated to version 2.1.

Egenara now also supports Microsoft’s virtualization platform Hyper-V in addition to many other vendors like CiRBA and Convirture which announced support for Hyper-V as well the last couple of days.

Besides PAN Manager and PAN Cloud Director, Egenara also provides PAN Domain Manager in its Cloud Suite providing DR functionality over multi vendor hardware platforms.

New PAN Manager features in version 7.6 are:

  • Enhancements on how to configure failover across multi-vendor hardware
  • Automatic PAN updates reducing system admin workload
  • Disaster recovery automation enhancements which reduce recovery times for catastrophic events and enforce boot order on recovery for dependability
  • Expanded roles-based administration for Server/Storage/Network to enhance security and adherence to corporate policies
  • Added interoperability with IBM Flex System and Fujitsu Primergy BX900 Bladesystem for physical cloud resource self-service

New PAN Cloud Director features in version 2.1 are:

  • Support for Microsoft Hyper-V and Active Directory
  • Billing enhancements to enable more option for usage based billing (annual, monthly and hourly)
  • Expanded roles support for multi-channel models (more specific roles within cloud wholesalers, cloud resellers and end users)
  • Ability to create complete application environment templates (ie the ability to create a template for a complex three tier application architecture)
  • Ability to create hybrid environments using physical, virtual and cloud infrastructure in a single design palette
  • Ability to manage service level agreements with expanded tools to monitor over-commitment of resources and resource allocations
  • Additional support for scripting to customize deployments of operating systems and resources
  • Lease periods – so customers could set start and end dates for projects and automatically provision and de-provision the environment
