IBM announces bolster cloud portfolio and new systems for private and hybrid clouds

Growth and Innovation. These are the key points that were mentioned on the first day of the IBM InterConnect 2013 event in Singapore started today October 9 ending on October 11. Growth and innovation over cost reduction, according to Big Blue are the main benefits and the future of the cloud market for what they call a Smarter Enterprise.

IBM announced a series of new offerings and new systems and solutions, one is the uncovering of the new solutions that Big Blue created after the acquisition of SoftLayer, back in July, an acquisition that was made by IBM to intensify the cloud offering which at the moment resulted to be a social business and mobile one that would be integrated to its software-as-a-service solution portfolio. IBM is taking advantage of InterConnect to show the world the company is up-to-date as always. According to the agenda, among the main topics of InterConnect 2013 the focus is on Cloud Computing, where new products and services such as the already mentioned offering created with SoftLayer is aimed to cloud integrate IBM SmartCloud and to help executive with the acceleration of cloud adoption, especially trying to renew the interest that companies have for Power VM.

Among the new products IBM released for the cloud market, today IBM revealed new Saas offerings created to meet the needs of specific business leaders such as Chief Marketing Officers (CMOs), Chief Human Resource Officers (CHRO) and Chief Information Officers (CIOs) occupied over all industries, not mentioning any further in the press release.

IBM is also adding further support to its Power Systems solutions for hybrid cloud environments offering a pre-built, pre-installed cloud solution based on OpenStack for SmartCloud Entry and PowerVC. In addition, IBM is also announcing support for OpenStack across all models of PureApplication System.

Big Blue also launched IBM Mobile Feedback App, a cloud based mobile application extention to the Smarter Workspace portfolio, which is supposed to permit to resources professionals and line of business executives such as sales, marketing or research to get to know opinions and ideas of employees and then use the feedback for future decisions on productivity, retention rates, and employee engagement.
