Release: VMware Horizon App Manager 1.0

VMware has released Horizon App Manager, a centralized authentication solution to access Software as a Service (SaaS) applications and which is the first product released as part of Project Horizon, which eventually will consist of several products in a Suite.

Project Horizon is VMware’s single sign on (SSO) portal for Software-as-a-Service applications which was announced during VMworld 2010 and is powered by the TriCipher technology which VMware acquired in September last year.

Horizon App Manager is a hosted by VMware and sold on a per-user subscription, priced at $30 a user per year. It enables organizations to centrally manage the provisioning, access and usage of public and private Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) applications. Users a provided with a self-service workspace using a web-browser which provides access to a corporate application store for their cloud applications. By providing a so called Consolidated Horizon Connector, which is a service which provides federation with Microsoft Active Directory or other Directory Services.
