EMC launches IaaS Cloud Architect Certifications

EMC has announced the availability of two new cloud-related certification tracks. The first one is called EMC Cloud Architect (EMCCA) en the second one is called EMC Data Center Architect (EMCDCA). The tracks are targeted towards architects, designers and consultants who will be responsible for designing highly virtualized cloud-ready infrastructures a.k.a. IT as a Service (IaaS) environments. Both certifications will be ‘Open’ curriculum based training and certification focused on technology concepts and principles applicable to any vendor environment.

The Cloud Architect (EMCCA) bring cross-domain expertise to virtualization and cloud designs – including IT-as-a-Service considerations – and are likely to lead the business interfacing role within the team.

EMCCCA certification can be accomplished by taking the following exams:

  • E20-001 Information Storage and Management Exam
    • Develop understanding of a breadth of information storage technologies
  • E20-018 Virtualized Infrastructure Specialist for Cloud Architects
    • Differentiating virtualization and cloud concepts and capabilities including core VDC components and cloud elements
    • The overall management strategy of a VDC or cloud environment
    • Incorporating and listing the critical aspects of cloud services as elements of cloud infrastructure planning
    • Describing how business process and service requirements will impact VDC and cloud planning and design
    • Identifying key governance, audit, and compliance considerations
  • E20-xxx IT as a Service – Expert Live Certification (Exam not available yet)
    • Defining Cloud Offerings (IT and Business)
    • Services Configuration Management
    • Developing and Maintaining Service Catalogs
    • Setting Optimal Service Management
    • Infrastructure Integration, Discovery, and Provisioning

    • Closed Loop Process Management

The Data Center Architect (EMCDCA) plays a crucial role on the team, providing

domain-specific expertise to complement, expand, and complete the cloud-ready virtualized infrastructure designs.
