Microsoft announces general availability of Windows Azure Mobile Services and Web Sites

During its annual Build conference, Microsoft announced several new and upcoming functionalities targeted at developers building applications leveraging Windows Azure. First of all Microsoft announced the general availability of Windows Azure Mobile Services, which enable developers of mobile applications running on top of Windows Phone, iOS and Android to store their data in Windows Azure ,authenticate users and send push notifications.

Microsoft also announced the general availability of Windows Azure Web Sites allowing the creation of websites on the Windows Azure platform using ASP.NET and Web Tools. Microsoft also showcased several upcoming enhancements in preview like improved auto-scaling, alerting and notifications, and tooling support for Windows Azure through Visual Studio.
