VMware Integrated OpenStack can use vSphere features such as Dynamic Resource Scheduling (DRS),Storage DRS, High Availability and vMotion through the OpenStack compute service Nova. Priavte networks, floating Ips, logical routing and security groups can be leveraged by the OpenStack network service Neutron. Virtual SAN features are accesible through the OpenStack block and image storage services Cinder and Glance.

The solution provides pre-defined workflows which automate operations such as adding/removing capacity, configuration changes, patching and upgrading. Monitoring of the VMware Integrated OpenStack can be done by using vRealize Operations Manager and vRealize Log Insight. Capacity, cost and efficiency can be managed by using vRealize Business.

VMware Integrated OpenStack will be available for use, free of charge, with VMware vSphere Enterprise Plus, vSphere with Operations Management Enterprise Plus and all editions of vCloud Suite. The product is expected to be released in Q1 2015.
