Release: Red Hat Cloud Infrastructure 5

Red Hat today announced the release of version 5 of its systems management solution for Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) private clouds based on the OpenStack platform, supporting OpenStack, Amazon Web Services (AWS) and virtualization platforms based on Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization (RHEV), Microsoft System Center Virtual Machine Manager(SCVMM) and VMware.

Version 5 is the follow up of version 4 which was released in January this year and version 5 adds the capabilities of Red Hat Satellite to the solution.

Red Hat Cloud infrastructure consists of Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization, Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform, providing the OpenStack foundation, Red Hat CloudForms providing management and orchestration and Red Hat Satellite providing life cycle management across physical infrastructure and tenant workloads.

The suite of products consists of the following component versions:

  • Red Hat Cloudforms 3.1 version, released in August this year.
  • Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization version 3.4, released in June this year.
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform version 5, released in August this year
  • Red Hat Satellite version 6, released in September this year.
