VMware opens a new Data Center in Germany

Among the announcements made at VMworld 2014 Europe VMware also announced its plans to open a new Data Center in Germany, making available VMware vCloud Air services starting from Q1 2015. At the moment the only VMware location in Europe is in UK, the new opening is going to provide customers with a more central location focused on German and EU compliance and data regulations.

According to a survey mentioned on VMware’s press release, over 225 senior IT Administrators in Germany think that the location of their cloud provider is one of the most important criteria for the choice of a provider. Therefore the new strategic vCloud Air location in Germany is going to help VMware’s european customers to address local data privacy, security and sovereignty issues, and at the same time giving them the possibility to work with a public cloud from a global leader.

VMware also announced its intention for an Early Access Program for VMware vCloud Air Virtual Private Cloud OnDemand, VMware vCloud Air Virtual Private Cloud is going to implement an on-demand access to vCloud Air with the swipe of a credit card, a benefit that allows billing in arrears only for the services consumed.
