Microsoft has released version 9 of its capacity planning tool, which it provides for free as a so called solution accelerator. Version 9 is the follow up of version 8.5 which was released in July this year. MAP 9.0 helps organizations assess their environment for Office 2013 and Office 365, track usage of Windows Server 2012, Lync Server 2013, SharePoint Server 2013, Exchange Server 2013, System Center Configuration Manager 2012, and SQL Server 2012 and Windows Azure.
Version 9.0 provides the following new functionality:
- Assessment scenario to identify and inventory Server and Cloud Enrollment (SCE) supported products within an enterprise.
- RDS Licensing scenario, providing a single report for enterprise wide license information
- Support for inventory of Microsoft products by Software ID (SWID) tag
- Enhanced Usage Tracking for SQL Server 2012, allowing to use User Access Logging (UAL)
